This is the ONE YEAR anniversary of Social Media Breakfast Atlanta in Cobb County and we really look forward to you joining us.

What is Social Media Breakfast Atlanta?

We are all business professionals who use online networking to meet new people, establish and develop new alliances, plan events, provide resources and much more. Our regular attendees include graphic artists and bloggers but also includes insurance agents, chefs, small business owners, real estate agents, bankers and much more. The only reason not to attend is that you just already have enough friends!

We start the meeting at 8AM but networking begins as early as 7:30. At 8AM we are eating, sipping coffee (please support the venue by buying at least a coffee or tea), and spending one on one time with one another. Generally we have one or two presenters who take about 10 minutes to share about their success with online networking but we also have people who can explain why colors are important, how choosing the right logo for your business can make all the difference in the world, and even people who can tell you how to network with a blood drive. Not joking!

Community Giving

Starting with this August event we are going to be raising money every meeting to go to a specific charity and our charity this month is MUST – Marietta United in Service and Training. Ken Cook, founder of the NW Atlanta SMB, has volunteered with MUST in the past and believes in what they do. One of the project we can really get behind is their making sure school aged children in their program have food, clothing and school supplies. Your donation here will go into the pot and we will present a check to MUST either at or shortly after the event. We will present at the event if we raise enough to make it worth their time to come.

Itinerary

7:30 – 8:00AM pre-meeting encounters – feel free to pass out cards or your information to others
8:00 – 8:20AM ordering breakfast – you’re on your own but the menu is vast and affordable
8:20 – 8:30AM charity presentation to MUST if representative is present (need to raise at least $200 for this)
8:25 – 8:45AM Tools, Tips and Tricks – as many as 10 tools to use in online (and off) network building
8:45 – 9:15AM presenters – this month’s presenters will be announced soon
9:15 – 9:xx 60 second elevator presentations from attendees
until 10AM open networking

Join us on May 20, 2010 for two great presenters who really know their Social Media stuff.

RSVP is required and you can do so HERE for FREE (or a small donation will really help)!

Sponsors wanted to help cover the costs of hosting, buying name tags, providing gift items and even the cost of breakfast. If you have a technology related product for the online marketing industry please contact Ken at 678-439-8683 or click on the Sponsor Us link.

Kevin Glowacki, aka The Atlanta Wine Guy will be presenting. Kevin is a prolific wine blogger and has built a tremendous following not only in the Atlanta area but around the world.

Kevin Glowacki - Atlanta Wine Guy

Kevin was laid off at the end of March this year. He worked in a very tiny industry and had a very non-specific set of duties and skills. He worked in special events and did all sorts of things, from purchasing, asset and inventory management, trouble shooting, production planning, warehouse department management, product development and software development “(I’m not a programmer unfortunately). That has made it a bit more difficult to find a job, so with encouragement from my wife and a credit card, I started this blog. It keeps me sane and has introduced me to the whirlwind of social media, which I participated in back in when I was an active member of?Tribe. While I’m still learning, I’m energized by all that is going on.

“I’ve talked about doing this for a while and finally did it. I’ll be doing wine reviews, articles that you or may not learn from, restaurant reviews and anything else related to wine, food and other beverages. If I find a tea that I really like (and I do love good iced tea), I’ll write about it. Of course, wine is obviously the focus, but I’ve typically found that “wineauxs” tend to be foodies and are interested in anything related. I’m sure things will change as this process evolves … I’m just here to enjoy myself and if you do to, that is sauce for the meal.”

Taryn Pisaneschi

Taryn Pisaneschi empowers small businesses, freelancers and solopreneurs to take charge of their own marketing and branding strategies. As a social media expert for over ten years, Taryn understands that the key to brand expansion is in effective and strategic social networking. She has been building online relationships since 1990 and started organizing networking events for online contacts since 1992.

In 2002, she leveraged social networking to quadruple the market share of a small, service based company based in Atlanta in 18 months. As the founder of Women Intelligently Networking, Taryn supports female?entrepreneurs through luncheons, events, and business skill workshops. Her leadership skills and the effectiveness of WIN! have garnered both regional and national attention.

As Chief Marketer for TSP Marketing, Taryn works with individual clients to develop business branding basics. Clients benefit from learning about solid elevator pitches, intentional referrals, and productive social networking strategies. Through TSP Marketing, Taryn empowers clients to meet their marketing goals in a friendly and meaningful way.

There is no doubt you are going to enjoy this event and learn much from these two great presenters. You are invited to come and share what you know with us and enjoy a great couple of hours together getting to know one another and learning more about the burgeoning social media industry.

Just in case you missed us we had a fantastic event at the Atlanta Bread Company on Prado Lane in Marietta (Town Center) on April 15. About 22 people showed up for the event and we enjoyed our normal great breakfast and coffee and each other.

James Ball spoke about what it means to make money from your online experience. Much more than a “Twitter 101″ session James talked about the self-less hours needed to be dedicated to your online presence, the need to engage and promote others and the way many people fail to understand how improbably it is to “buy your way to the top”.

“Paying me to do it for you [engage] is like using pay-per-click advertising”, James says, “once the budget runs out it’s over.”

Good stuff on "doing it for real"

We were also joined by a lovely family of sweet potato pie bakers who also distribute soul seasonings. They were picked on often by many present as the perfect type of business to take social for profit. One of their party, Ed Montgomery, was psyched when he left and obviously ready to hit it! Remember, Ed, if you have enough true friends you’ll never have to sell anything.

Attending today was Desiree Scales of Bella Web Design who joined us for the first time. A repeat visit from Steve Moore proved as helpful as always and so many others were on hand as well. Let’s just say it was certainly one of the best Social Media Breakfasts in Marietta to date.

Chris Foster from Georgia.com joined us as well and I’m looking forward to much more from Chris with the relaunching of that fantastic user driven site. I’ll see Chris at the Atlanta Steeple Chase very soon!

Next month you have GOT to be there! Two great speakers I am really looking forward to. Kevin Glowacki – The Atlanta Wine Guy?http://atlantawineguy.com and Taryn Pisaneschi W.I.N. ?
